Central Nebraska has gained a fabulous new salon/boutique! Owner Barb McCoun is joining her husband Barry’s location at 704 Cottonwood Street in Wood River (along Highway 11 on the west edge of Wood River, just ¼ mile north of Hwy 30).
Wood River welcomes Barb McCoun with her new local business adventures. Prior to Barb’s 21 year career with the USPS, Barb attended beauty school and spent 11 years as a hair stylist. Since retirement from the postal service, she has been gradually been getting back into the hair care business. Barb’s Hair Shoppe is now officially open for business, sharing space with Junk Yard Treasures & McCoun Truck Parts. She indicates she does women and men’s hair of all ages, including cuts, perms and highlights, with plans to add additional services as the need arises. McCoun 
is enjoying interacting with customers on a personal level again after all these years! You can reach Barb’s Hair Shoppe at 308-383-2932 to set up an appointment. However, if you see her at the salon feel free to stop in.
Barb McCoun started up Junk Yard Treasures with business partner Karie Tank. This new venture began a year or so ago selling items at the annual Junk Jaunt. At JYT you’ll find painted vintage furniture, home décor, rusty stuff, and “a little bit of everything”. Barb has always sprinkled a few antiques around in her own home, so this venture is a natural extension of her creativity. She’ll be open Wednesdays & Fridays. Which is also during Barb’s Hair Shoppe hours. The shop will also be open for Junk Jaunt September 23-24 from 8-6. Follow them on Facebook to see what’s new!
