Survey has ended. Thank you for participation.

The City of Wood River is in the process of updating its 15 year Comprehensive Plan.  This includes the preparation of a Community Housing Study with Strategies for Affordable Housing, being conducted by the City, under the direction of the Wood River Area Economic & Housing Development Corporation. The Housing Study process includes the distribution of three important housing surveys to Wood River residents as part of a comprehensive citizen participation program.  These Surveys include a “Workforce Housing Needs Survey”, a “Continuum of Care for Elderly Persons Household Survey”, and a “Home Improvement Survey” with assistance from South Central Economic Development District (SCEDD).  See the separate article in today’s Sunbeam for additional information about how completion of the home improvement survey is part of a larger initiative to get grant funding for Wood River residents.

Selected major employers will receive the Workforce Housing Needs Survey and will be available online and by paper, while Continuum of Care Surveys will be made available at the local Senior Center, Oasis, Countryside Villas and Public Library.  The Home Improvement Survey will be available on the City website with paper copies available at the Wood River Civic Center.

The Workforce Housing Needs Survey can be returned to your place of employment.  The Continuum of Care Surveys are to be returned to the Senior Center, Library or City Office.  The Home Improvement Survey can be completed online or returned to the Wood River City Office or the SCEDD Office, Attn: Housing Specialist, PO Box 79, Holdrege, Nebraska 68949.  These Surveys are to be submitted by Tuesday, March 10th. By random drawing, one participant from each survey will receive a $50 Gift Card Drawing from Hanna:Keelan Associates.

Any questions and/or comments regarding the Surveys can be directed to Mayor Cramer or the City Clerk.

The Housing Study will be completed with the assistance of Hanna:Keelan Associates, P.C., a Nebraska based community planning and research consulting firm. The Firm is in its 37th year of serving Nebraska Communities and Counties.  Hanna:Keelan works extensively in central Nebraska preparing comprehensive plans, zoning regulations, housing studies, downtown and redevelopment plans and assisting Communities in building both family and elderly housing.  This Study is funded with a Housing Grant provided by the Nebraska Investment Finance Authority, with matching funds from the Wood River Area Economic & Housing Development Corporation.
